For most, Halloween is 31st October but when we moved to East Ayrshire we had to re-think. Down this neck of the woods, it’s all about “Killieween” which is celebrated on the last Friday of October no matter what the date!
With that in mind, you have to be extra organised as even the shops nearby stop selling decorations after Killieween.

This year, Hunter is keen to dress up as either Bluey or a Witch, so maybe we can combine the two!
We’re sure you’ll all agree a lot of the holiday celebrations have become so much more commercialised since we were kids, that being said though, there’s nothing that makes us happier than seeing the wee ones faces light up at even the thought of Halloween and Christmas!

At only £5.50 per child, Gemmells Garden Centre are offering an undercover Pumpkin Patch as well as bouncy castle and goody bag! With the pumpkin patch running from 12th – 27th October, they also have an amazing café and soft play too as well as lots of goodies in their shop and garden centre. Hannahston Alpacas Pumpkin Picking with Alpacas! Need we say more! Join the team at Hannahston Alpacas. Visit the pumpkin patch where you will get to pick your own pumpkin in the field with the baby alpacas before taking a walk to the barn where you can paint your pumpkin and have a bounce on the bouncy castle

A UV ghostland with floating ghosts, roasting marshmallows over the fire and a spooky graveyard and ghost hunt amongst much more! Tickets are £7.50 and all tickets include refreshments, carving patterns and colouring templates, along with entry into the maze! Available from 14th – 20th October. Find out more here
Stirlingshire – Arnprior Farm is probably the most well known for Pumpkin Picking in Scotland as it’s Scotland’s Original Pumpkin Picking location. It has become a tradition with our friends to head along every year and it’s absolutely worth the trip. Arnprior is always booked up quickly, but they have a few selected mid-week dates left and you pay per car, NOT per person and get money off your pumpkins too so a great allrounder for all ages. Loch Lomond Faerie Trail caught our eye with their scary trail and pumpkin patch. With tickets from £7.50 and FREE for under 1’s, you get entry to their Scary Trail, Faerie Tale Farm and Pumpkin Patch and runs from 4th -31st October. Check out everything they have to offer this spooky season!
Why not keep it local with your nearby baby and toddler groups. Often the groups are run by volunteer parents, but an excellent way of meeting other families in your area and creating a lovely community! Fenwick Baby & Toddlers are running their Halloween party on 28th October, so check it out today if you’re local, they’re a lovely bunch (even if we are biased!).
One recommendation today was Pumpkin Adventures – The Centre Livingston running from 11th – 20th October and offering ASN sessions on 14-16th! This was a new one for us but looks like they have loads on offer and suitable for all ages with FREE entry for accompanying adults which is always a bonus! Book your tickets here
Conifox Adventure Park near Edinburgh have lots to offer for seasonal celebrations including Halloween Days, Pumpkin Picking and Fireworks Night too. From only £5 per person and running from 12- 27th October, it’s definitely worth a look! Take a look at their options.
Queensferry – Once you get into the swing of looking at these things, we reckon you could fill your day with Halloween activities for kids and travel throughout Scotland! Craigies Farm offers a Pumpkin Festival both during the day and after dark, which looks excellent! Whether it’s days time for all the family, or fright night – book in early here
